Make Space for a Little Fun!

Much like the August weather in Raleigh, I've been living in the 80s this week.
Almost every class I taught was paired with my favorite pop and rock songs from this iconic decade. I've always felt comforted by 80s music, probably from all the days listening to it with my parents as a kid.
Did I feel a little self conscious when I walked outside in my pink or blue thrifted unitards? Yes. But was it worth it when I got to the studio and saw the look on students' faces? Hell yes.

This week reminded me to find little moments -- no matter how small -- of fun in each day. When life challenges us, there's even more importance to do it.
On the mat, allowing ourselves to have some fun can ease the expectations we place on ourselves. It opens up space for us to respect and appreciate exactly where our bodies and practices are.
Off the mat, making time for fun can help us move through areas of life with a little more lightness and even joy.
In this shifted mindset, we're in a better position to navigate challenges, further our progress and achieve the goals we have.
What's something you love, that makes you smile, laugh, dance, that you can give yourself this week?
For me, I'll replay "Higher Love" and "Like a Prayer" for the 100th time.
