Embrace the "fall back"
Elizabeth | NOV 2, 2025

While you were busy sleeping or celebrating Halloweekend last night, the clocks turned back an hour to mark the end of daylight saving time and return to standard time.
There's a lot of debate over whether to continue the switch or stick year-round with one or the other -- where do you land? Personally, I love the late sunsets of summer and always get sad when it becomes dark so much sooner.
But, living in standard time is believed to be better for our health (good article here). The earlier sunrises and sunsets align with our circadian rhythm: our natural clock that tells us when to be awake and when to sleep.
When our circadian rhythm and sleep are healthy, other important things like our blood pressure, heart rate, hormone levels and metabolism are, too.
More symbolically, embracing the time change is an embrace of the transition from the light, abundant summer to the dark, dormant winter.
Like the leaves falling off the trees, I've been working hard to surrender to this season and trust the perpetual cycle of life and death that we see in nature, and honestly, everywhere in our lives.
Each part of the cycle is important, holds beauty and offers lessons to learn.
Give yourself some patience as you adjust to the time change, and carry some peace that you're in sync with Mother Nature.

Also, if this message resonates with you in any way... it relates to the theme of my yoga retreat in the NC mountains next July that I'll be launching THIS MONTH!! (Spots are limited -- remember to join the waitlist if you haven't yet to have first access to registration.)
